Nestled amongst the beautiful forested hills of the Midi-Pyrenees, Papilio is a spacious, comfortable and welcoming home with a south-facing garden that overlooks uninterrupted mountain views. It is the perfect base for relaxing and unwinding by the fire or skiing, rafting, hiking and snowshoeing in the nearby surroundings. A 20-minute stroll or a 2-minute drive and you will arrive in the village centre of Bagneres-de-Luchon, where you will find cafes, restaurants, bars, boutique shops, the twice-weekly farmers market, a cinema, day spas and thermal hot springs.
The owner, Hermione, has lovingly restored this 19th-century lodge and welcome you to stay in her relaxed home.
The ground floor feels incredibly homely with hardwood floorboards throughout the spacious living and dining areas, staircase and first-floor bedrooms. The attic bedrooms are comfortable and cosy containing plush carpet, wooden beams and natural light via dormer windows and skylights. All bedrooms have an attached bathroom, with a toilet, basin, combination bathtub and shower and heated towel rail.
The house can very comfortably sleep 11 persons but can stretch to 12 for an extra small charge - We have also recently added on an annex with an ensuite so can have an additional 2 people stay here. The cost is separate to the main house and is an extra E25 a night.
The brand new kitchen is fully equipped with all the necessary items to prepare your own meals, and the 12 person dining room is the perfect place to entertain.
Papilio is centrally heated, however you will find yourself gravitating to the charming wood fire in the lounge. In summer, cool off in the outdoor heated swimming pool, play on the trampoline and enjoy your meals at the outdoor table setting on the paved terrace. Off-street car parking is available for up to 4 vehicles. Wi-Fi is accessible throughout the household.
Papilio is available to rent as a self-catered gîte and can accommodate up to twelve people throughout four en-suite bedrooms (twin or king beds available), all with superb views of the Pyrenees bordering France and Spain.
