Kangasniemi on valittu suomen kauneimmaksi kunnaksi ja pitää sitä titteliä edelleen. Alue on Puula-järven rannalla, joka koko on 330km2. Suomen 12. suurin järvi. Runsaasta kalakannasta löytyy mm. järvilohi, järvitaimen ja ankerias.
