It is a great base for walking and cycling trips in nature, with endless cycling routes along dune paths, the beach, the dike, and forests. You can enjoy swimming in the sea, surfing, paddleboarding (SUP), and sunbathing. Horse riding and canoeing in the inland and coastal waters of Den Helder are also possible, including via the canoe route.
Area of MerelYou can walk to the visitor center of Noord-Hollands Landschapsbeheer, "De Helderse Vallei", where you will also find a petting zoo, playground, lookout tower, barefoot path, climbing center, canoe rental with the start of a kilometer-long canoe route and finally the pancake house.
